Emmanuel Day School (EDS) offers several different programs for preschool children. The morning 3’s, 4’s, and 5’s classes, taught in English, are specifically designed to be a gradual progression in learning. This curriculum gradually shifts to prepare students for the more structured environment of Kindergarten.
The afternoon 4’s and 5’s Enrichment programs are Spanish immersion and are taught entirely in Spanish. The Spanish immersion 4’s class follows a similar curriculum to the morning English 4’s class and is a clear progression from the 3’s. The 5’s Enrichment program does not mirror the morning 5’s curriculum and instead builds on the classroom learning and incorporates music, art, and learning about Latin and South American cultures and traditions.
The Emmanuel Day School curriculum uses learning targets that aligned with the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s position statement on what developmentally appropriate practice looks like for children ages 3 to 5. Each of the 49 learning targets is used to guide the EDS teachers in their lesson planning process.
